total quality joining assessment

A Total Quality Joining Assessment is the best course of action to take when you need to align or realign your welding or joining processes and procedures with operational goals. Total Quality Joining Assessments are frequently used by Member companies or their suppliers (with Member company sponsorship) when they need to research or retool any aspect of their current manufacturing approach. By performing various types of assessments and analyses on site, we help reduce losses and optimize the manufacturing solution.

Assessment Components
The Total Quality Joining Assessment is a full scale process review and optimization program using a procedure we’ve developed and used with many of our Members. Using this procedure, your entire welding operation is analyzed, focusing on optimization of all weld processes such as line set up, weld quality review, procedure documentation and validation. Goals focus on both near-term and long-term results, and a plan for measurable improvements is generated and put in an actionable timeline.

A significant component on the Total Quality Joining Assessment examines questions such as: How can I improve my processes to achieve new production goals? What joining methods are critical to my manufacturing requirements? What are the short- and long-term business benefits of changing any processes or procedures? Will new or existing equipment or effort satisfy current requirements? How will I test the resulting design and measure improvements?

Additional Services
An array of EWI services may be incorporated into any assessment project or may be considered as follow-on activities after an assessment has been completed. For example, if you are experiencing high failure rate of a particular joint with no obvious cause of failure, parts can be sent to our lab and examined in order to determine cause of failure. Process change recommendations can then be suggested to increase success rate. Our lab has expertise in nondestructive and destructive testing, metallurgy, finite element analysis and structural integrity, and can be used in any combination for failure analysis.
