fume mitigation service
-Lower Exposure to Hexavalent Chromium
-Understand the Safety and Health Risks
Recent changes in OSHA standards may require a re-evaluation of the exposure levels for hexavalent chromium (Cr)VI)) and all Cr(VI) compounds in your workplace. Knowing how to assess your environmental conditions and implement steps to correct processes that might generate unacceptable fume levels can be challenging.
EWI can now assist customers with this task by evaluating their welding operation. The initial evaluation will include an assessment of information provided by the customer (such as, the type of welding being done, process/procedure details, materials being welded, the number of welding operations and the size of the facility, ventilation and details of any previous exposure monitoring). Based on this information, EWI may recommend further evaluation, minor process and/or environmental changes or major process and/or environmental changes. It could be determined that no additional assistance is required.
If process changes are warranted, EWI will help customers with process selection or modification, procedure development and qualification, and welder training. EWI can also help customers with selection and implementation of improved ventilation systems.
Why EWI?
Because of our extensive experience and expertise in joining processes as well as with safety and health-related issues, EWI offers “one-stop shopping” for customers who are concerned about fume exposure issues. We are an independent organization with no vested interest in selling a particular welding or ventilation system. Finally, because of the nature of our business and our broad member base, we have contacts throughout the welding industry.
