EWI advances materials joining technologies and helps customers resolve specific joining issues through comprehensive research and development (R&D).

New Materials and Methods: Hundreds of joining innovations over the years have sprung from EWI research. We apply what we learn about new materials and methods to improve our Members’ product quality and process efficiencies.

Testing: EWI conducts non-destructive evaluation (NDE) along with standard, specialized, mechanical, metallurgical, penetration, and other testing. Most all testing can be done full-scale in our state-of-the-art labs.

Feasibility Studies: By performing comprehensive feasibility studies on new joining materials and processes, EWI is able to move the bar from scientific theory to practical industry applications.

In-plant Assessments: Our knowledgeable engineers travel to Member sites to conduct in-plant assessments to help resolve process and production issues on the factory floor.

General Technical Assistance: EWI is always on hand to guide our Members with general technical assistance and advice on materials and joining innovations.

Joint Industry Projects: Companies with a mutual materials joining interest can lower the cost and risk associated with R&D through a Joint Industry Project (JIP). Results remain confidential to the sponsoring companies.
